This is Lou Marchetti's first
portrait. The subject was a homeless man who was occasionally
paid to pose at the Art Students League where Lou was a student.
The painting is oil on canvas and was created in the late 1940's.
We have been unsuccessful in taking a photograph that faithfully
reproduces all the qualities of the painting. The image on the
left
suffers from reflections but best shows the brightness and detail of
the original.
The other two images lack brightness but give a cleaner overall
sense of the painting and show the impact
of the frame.
